Top Ten Tuesday: Honorifics in the Title

I love a challenge and when I came across That Artsy Reader Girl and her Top Ten Tuesday – I knew I wanted to be a part of it! Every week there is a new topic and this week it is Honorifics in the Title. I decided this would be my first post for Top Ten Tuesday, but it was much more difficult than I thought it would be. It was hard to find 10 books that I had read that used different honorifics. I finally found 10 that met all my criteria and were all books I rated 4 stars on Goodreads. Almost all of these books were historical romance and I read years ago.

  • Title: Mr. Fixer Upper
  • Author: Lucy Score
  • Genre: Contemporary Romance
  • First book in Fixer series. Enemies to lover trope. Inside the world of a HGTV type show.
  • Title: The Mystery of Mrs. Christie
  • Author: Marie Benedict0
  • Genre: Historical Fiction
  • Did you know Agatha Christie disappeared for 11 days? AND there was never an explanation given for what happened during those 11 days? I didn’t until I read this book. I loved this fictional account of what could have happened during that time.
  • Title: The Duke and I
  • Author: Julia Quinn
  • Genre: Historical Romance
  • First book in the Bridgertons series which the Netflix series The Bridgertons was based on. I read all of these books over 10 years ago so I don’t remember them all that well. At one point, I owned all of them in the series so I must have liked them. Also, I have never watched the Netflix series.
  • Title: A Lady’s Guide to Etiquette and Murder
  • Author: Dianne Freeman
  • Genre: Historical Fiction, Cozy Mystery, Romance
  • First in the Countess of Harleigh Mystery series. I’ve read all of the books in this series and have enjoyed this series. Countess Harleigh defies societies expectations of a young widow and mother in London and gets involved in a murder investigation.
  • Title: Queen of Babble
  • Author: Meg Cabot
  • Genre: Chick Lit
  • Also read 10+ years ago and I have no memory of this book or the series. I read the whole series and rated it 4 stars.
  • Title: The General’s Daughter
  • Author: Nelson DeMille
  • Genre: Mystery Thriller
  • This was written in 1992 and I don’t remember reading this. I rated it 4 stars in Goodreads so I must have enjoyed it. First book in the Paul Brenner series.
  • Title: Dear Prince Charming
  • Author: Donna Kauffman
  • Genre: Contemporary Romance
  • Second book in the Glass Slipper series. I loved anything written by Donna Kauffman in the early 2000s, but yet again, I don’t remember this particular book.
  • Title: Because of Miss Bridgerton
  • Author: Julia Quinn
  • Genre: Historical Romance
  • First book in the Rokesbys series. I loved Julia Quinn novels and rated this one 4 stars. This was a nominee for Reader’s Favorite Romance on Goodreads in 2016.
  • Title: My Last Duchess
  • Author: Eloisa James
  • Genre: Historical Romance
  • Book #0 in the Wildes of Lindow Castle.
  • Title: Prince of Dreams
  • Author: Lisa Kleypas
  • Genre: Historical Romance, Time Travel
  • Second book in the Stokehursts series. I have no memory of this book. Sometimes the description jogs my memory, but not with this book. I did rate it 4 stars and Lisa Kleypas was one of my favorite authors.

I always feel a little sad when I forgot the entire plot of a book. I wish brains didn’t do that!

I agree! It was really irritating that it kept happening when I was putting this list together.
