Top Ten Tuesday: Books Set in a Small Town

This week that artsy reader girl assigned the topic of Top Ten Tuesday is Books Set in X. I chose a small town because I love small town settings where everyone knows everyone and everything. It’s like reading a Hallmark movie. Besides, I loved writing a list that I got to do something with last week! This week I found books that I’ve read more recently and enjoyed. I also tried not to repeat authors and to mix up the genres.

  • Title: Things We Never Got Over
  • Author: Lucy Score
  • Genre: Contemporary Romance
  • First book in Knockemout series. Interesting names aside (I’m looking at you Waylay), I was sucked right into this book. This small town was charming and the male protagonist was appropriately grumpy. One of my favorite recent reads.
  • Title: The Simple Wild
  • Author: K.A. Tucker
  • Genre: Contemporary Romance
  • First book in the Wild series. This book checked all the boxes – small town, Alaska, witty banter, the outdoors. Great first book of the series.
  • Title: All Fudged Up
  • Author: Nancy Coco
  • Genre: Cozy Mystery
  • One of my newest loves in book genres is the cozy mystery. This is the first book in the Candy-coated series. It’s set in Mackinac Island where there are no cars. People get to the island by boat (or airplane) and travel around the island by walking or with horses. A small town that steps back in time.
  • Title: Mind Games
  • Author: Nora Roberts
  • Genre: Romantic Suspense
  • Nora Robert’s yearly stand alone romantic suspense with a little paranormal mixed in is always a winner for me.
  • Title: Chasing Perfect
  • Author: Susan Mallery
  • Genre: Contemporary Romance
  • First book in Fool’s Gold series. This series is exactly like a Hallmark movie. In fact, one of the Christmas books from this series was made into a Hallmark Christmas movie. All books in this series are good, easy reads.
  • Title: Meet Your Baker
  • Author: Ellie Alexander
  • Genre: Cozy Mystery
  • First book in Bakeshop Mystery series. Each book also has recipes at the back. Set in a small town in the Siskiyou Mountains in Oregon. Small town has vineyards, arts, and great foodie scene. Series has 24 books (so far).
  • Title: Rest Ye Murdered Gentlemen
  • Author: Vicki Delany
  • Genre: Cozy Mystery
  • First book in A Year Round Christmas Mystery series. Set in Rudolph, New York – self-proclaimed Christmas town where it’s Christmastime all year long. Great for lovers of Christmas.
  • Title: Death Overdue
  • Author: Allison Brook
  • Genre: Cozy Mystery
  • First book in The Haunted Library series set in Clover Ridge, Connecticut. Some supernatural elements with the main character able to see ghosts. There are 8 books in this series.
  • Title: It Happened One Summer
  • Author: Tessa Bailey
  • Genre: Contemporary Romance
  • First book in Bellinger Sisters series. Set in Westport, Washington. Bellinger sisters from LA are sent to small town in Westport, Washington by their stepfather to learn responsibility and more about themselves.
  • Title: Spring Fever
  • Author: Mary Kay Andrews
  • Genre: Chick Lit
  • Novel about second chance at love. Lots of twists and turns while waiting to see if these exes will find their way back to each other.

These sound good. I enjoyed It Happened One Summer. I also need to read more Ellie Alexander. I read one of her books earlier on in the year and enjoyed it.

    Have a great week!
